Adopt Sudin

Little Sudin was confiscated by the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) in Lampung Province, Sumatra in May 2021, along with a female infant orangutan named Siti. They were rescued from the illegal wildlife trade when they were about to be loaded onto a ferry at Bakauhuni Harbor in Lampung. Estimated to be only 18 months of age, these tiny babies would have still been fully dependent on their mothers.

They were transferred to our partner’s quarantine facility in Jambi, Sumatra, where they underwent full medical checkups. Siti was found to be suffering from bronchitis and Sudin was diagnosed with an inflammatory bowel disease After a few weeks their health and behaviour improved immensely. Both are active orangutans with good appetites.

Sudin’s favourite foods include grapes, sour fruits, and green beans. Since his rescue, Sudin’s confidence has grown, and his cheeky nature now shines through. He loves to play outside his enclosure in the nearby trees with Siti. He has even started to try and build a basic nest by folding over leaves and twigs. Sudin and Siti will spend the next few years at the Open Orangutan Sanctuary in the Bukit Tigapuluh Ecosystem where they will join Jungle School and begin their rehabilitation journey.
