Sudin

Sudin and Siti love exploring the forest on their regular Jungle School outings. They have both continued to develop their forest skills and independence and they are more willing to spend time away from the orangutan keepers. Sudin and Siti have travelled further in the forest than they have before over the last few months. They have improved their foraging, climbing and nest building skills however they are too young to be released and still have much to learn.

Sudin spends much of his time playing at Jungle School with this being 45% of his total activity budget. He has stayed 5-15 meters above the ground. Feeding activities reached 23%, whereas movement activities were only 15% of his total activity budget. Sudin consumed 23 different feeding items per month, mostly tapus fowers and liana fruits. Sudin built several new nests however they are still of low quality. Sudin socialised with Jelly Bean, Violet, Vanilla, Rosi, Ying, and Yaya. Sudin is more confident in terms of social interactions than Siti. However, he fears adult males and he will usually cling to the orangutan trainers or run away on the ground if he sees an adult male orangutan nearby.

The last few months has seen many days of heavy rain so sometimes Jungle School has not been possible. When Sudin and Siti need to spend more time in their enclosure, they are given extra enrichment which they are very skilled at completing. Sudin loves a variety of food and enrichment and is in excellent health. Well done Sudin on such a great report from the jungle!
