About

We're a passionate group of people dedicated to saving the orangutan, led by an experienced set of wildlife experts that have been working for over 20 years to protect orangutans. Together our brand, staff, supporters, partners and the community are working to protect orangutans from extinction.

About The Orangutan Project

Our philosophy

TOP is a non-partisan organisation that collaborates with several orangutan conservation projects, as well as providing habitat protection and land acquisition through its own programs to deter wildlife poaching, illegal logging and land clearing in Indonesia. TOP's philosophy is to work flexibly and tailor what is necessary to get the job done for orangutan conservation and welfare, with TOP's organisations needs always subservient to the best outcome for orangutans.

We are part of Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Program (SOCP)

Together with PanEco YEL, and Frankfurt Zoological Society we work together to provide effective and coordinated results for Sumatran orangutans. SOCP mission is to conserve viable wild populations of the Critically Endangered Sumatran orangutan. We do this by habitat protection, reintroduction of confiscated pets to the wild, education, survey work and scientific research.
