Mawar is becoming very comfortable in the forest. She is not fond of strange people and is only comfortable with her caregivers. These are great signs that she is adjusting well to forest life and will hopefully stay away from danger once she returns to the forest permanently. She still doesn't venture very high into the trees and often prefers to be close to her caregiver.
Mawar knows her way home from the forest and quite often chooses to make this journey alone, without assistance. She has stolen the heart of Mindow, a male orangutan that lives at her forest home. Mindow is always trying to get close to Mawar but she has none of it! Mawar is a maturing, independent female but is not quite ready for romance. She is currently 49.6 pounds (22.5 kilograms) and getting stronger every day.
