Thanks to your support, Sudin returned to the forest in early August after several months recovering from a serious illness. The first order of business was a reunion with his best friend Siti—an instant recognition followed by joyful play.
Sudin exploring the jungle after a long absence
Sudin is back in Jungle School and doing well. His movement through the forest is strong, and he is determined to keep up with the activities led by Siti and other nearby orangutans. He’s eating a wide variety of natural foods and clearly remembers what the forest offers.
He recently had a brief digestive upset—likely from overindulging in cambium—which caused a mild fever and some temporary bloating. He received prompt care, responded well, and has returned to Jungle School under the watchful eye of our veterinarian.
His bestie Siti remains her cheeky, energetic self. She loves to jump amongst the thick lianas, with Sudin close behind. They repeat this fun activity over and over until they are exhausted. They often spend time near Citrawan and her infant, Canur. Siti sometimes tries to hold the baby, while protective mum Citrawan steps in when needed. Sudin watches with curiosity, taking it all in. Sudin and Siti both return to their enclosure at night for a good night’s sleep while Sudin builds up his strength again.
Thank you for helping Sudin through a tough chapter and back to his jungle playground. Your generosity is making his recovery—and his future—possible.
