In February, little Sudin was rushed into emergency care. He had been feeling sick for a while, with fevers and vomiting. At first, we thought it was just the flu. But tests showed Sudin had a dangerous worm infection that was hurting his lungs, heart and digestion.
But thanks to your kindness, Sudin received urgent and lifesaving medical treatment. He’s been given the intensive care and love he needed to survive. Because of you, he has made a remarkable recovery.
Sudin’s condition was very worrying. He spent most of the day sleeping, showed little enthusiasm and didn’t have much of an appetite. He was also sad because he was separated from his best friend Siti. They have a strong bond, and being apart was hard for Sudin.
It wasn’t until the arrival of another orangutan at the care centre, that Sudin showed true signs of improvement. When Sudin met Haga, he became much more lively, curious and engaged. He started eating better, and was often seen playfully trying to get Haga’s attention. Haga gave Sudin the company and emotional support he desperately needed.
Sudin and his fruit snacks, given by his carers in his recovery crate.
While recovering, Sudin continued to receive daily enrichment, with local forest fruits stuffed in leaves and toys. He’s been hard at work carefully weaving leaves and branches into sleeping nests–a wonderful sign of both his physical strength and natural behaviours returning.
Very soon, Sudin will be able to return to his forest home. And the best part–he will be reunited with his pal Siti!
Thank you so much to you, our amazing community, for giving Sudin the urgent care he needed to survive and recover. Thank you for being there for him 🧡
